History

The European Laboratory of Bioethics, Technoethics and Law succeeded the corresponding Center of Panteion University.

During the summer academic semester of 2021 the European Center of Bioethics, Technoethics and Law organized:

Α)Open course on 11.3.2021 on “VACCINATIONS: Legal, ethical and theological dilemmas”. The speakers were a) Xenophon Kontiadis, Professor of Panteion University, b) Konstantinos Kornarakis, Professor of Greek Academy of Sciences, c) Evangelos Protopapadakis, Asst. Professor UOA, d) Fereniki Panagopoulou, Asst. Professor at Panteion University. The discussion was moderated by Ismini Kriari, Panteion University Professor.

Β) Open Course on 1.4.2021 on “Availability of medical resources in times of need: The example of Intensive Care Units”. The speakers were a) Stavroula Tsinorema, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Crete, b) Dimitrios Boubas, Professor at the School of Medicine of the Greek Academy of Sciences, c) Eleni Rethymiotaki, Asst. Professor UOA, President of the National Bioethics Committee. The discussion was moderated by Fereniki Panagopoulou, Asst. Professor at Panteion University.

C) Farewell Lecture by Ismina Kriari, Professor of Constitutional Law and former Rector of Panteion University on 3.6.2021, on “The challenges of Bioethics in the 21st century”. Christina Koulouri, Rector of Panteion University, delivered a greeting. The introductory presentation was given by Fereniki Panagopoulou, Asst. Professor at Panteion University. After the farewell lesson of the honored Professor, distinguished guests, her colleagues and students took the floor.

The Center was among the co-organizers of the World Bioethics Day celebration in October 2021.

In the previous academic years, was the co-organizer of most scientific events, the most important of which are 5 Conferences on Medical Responsibility and Bioethics with many speakers from Greece and abroad. It was also a co-organizer of the scientific event for the celebration of World Bioethics Day held at Panteion on 18.10.2019.
